Hodgepodge Lodge Revisited
My Dream Come True.
As I recall, Miss Jean and her friends at Hodgepodge Lodge occupied my 30 minutes of t.v. per week when I was a little girl in the 1970’s. I remember pouring over the T.V. Guide to choose the program I would watch. Otherwise, my dad had control of the screen time. He liked to watch golf, Westerns, and sports. Once a week, I’d get to watch Hodgepodge Lodge and Miss Jean!
Anyhow, as I forage on my little suburban slice of paradise, it occurred to me that I grew up to be like the ‘old lady’ on Hodgepodge Lodge. I suppose age is relative. Looking back on the old videos, Miss Jean wasn’t that old at all!
Rick rack, knee high socks, tennis shoes brings me back to my childhood for sure.
Here’s another good video for children and adults starting gardens:
If you follow the tip of planting a fish head with your corn, make sure to plant it DEEP enough to keep away raccoons, etc., if you share your yard with them.
Did you watch Hodgepodge Lodge? What was your favorite program?
Thank you for reading and watching,
MamaCarole

My mom and I would watch Hodgepodge Lodge once in a while, we didn't get to watch it too often as she usually had other plans at the time it was on television, and our signal from the Rochester NY PBS station wasn't that great, especially if it was raining, snowing, or windy. (Back in the old days with the rooftop antennas!)
I don’t know if it was my favorite, but I remember watching “The Land of Play,” a Michigan public TV show, with one lady with a bun (she was like a female Mr. Rogers) who told stories and sometimes pretended to be an elephant or some other animal. She wore a smock. I also still remember the song at the beginning distinctly, sort of a music box theme, so I must’ve watched it a lot (I missed much of elementary school because of various sicknesses).
